Good neighbors, good lifestyle

Barrow County is home to six cities. Winder, the county seat, is the largest, and located in the center of the county. Winder offers small-town charm, yet all the amenities of larger communities.

Statham and Auburn bookend the east and west ends of Barrow County. Statham is home to small antique shops and offers a convenient boardwalk atmosphere. Auburn, Barrow County’s second-largest city, is a fast-growing community looking to enhance its past and retain its friendliness.

Carl and Bethlehem offer communities of welcome and warmth to all who choose to move there.

And Braselton, in the northern section of Barrow County, has a combination of high-end growth and old-town grace.

Established in 1892 and named for the red clay that was used to dye cloth an auburn red, this charming city is busily engaged in economic development in the downtown overlay. A cultural art center, new shops, restoration of historic buildings, a new streetscape and events and activities throughout the year help Auburn to prepare for a projected growth of 20,000 within the next 15 years. Auburn has been a growing town welcoming to new residents – especially those looking for more land, more space, and more house, as they gravitate away from the Metro Atlanta area.

Statham

Population, 2024: 3,084
Zip Code: 30666

Founded in 1892 by a native of England, and conveniently located between Atlanta and Athens, Statham provides a tradition of small-town Southern charm. Statham is close to the City of Athens, with the University of Georgia, and all the advantages it offers, while still keeping an arm’s length away. Industrial equipment manufacturer Caterpillar sits less than 10 miles from Statham. Even closer is The Georgia Club, a live-work-play community offering a varied set of amenities for the discriminating homeowner. Statham’s historic look is the real thing; in fact, part of Statham is on the National Register of Historic Places. But, while the look is traditional, the amenities for residents are contemporary: parks, walking trails, and golf cart paths, to name a few.
